Amy Recently moved to London, but grew up just outside the Lake District in a town called Barrow in Furness. Having always had a passion for making physical things, she likes to have a hands on approach whenever she's working. Everything Amy does is handmade from painting textures, to intricate paper cutting as she finds that paper is really versatile for creating both 2D and 3D pieces – which is why Amy loves to use it – though she's recently been exploring the use of wood!
Amy first hooked up with us for our Arty Farty show this year where she produced that little clock over her right shoulder. It looks sad because you haven't read her questions yet. So read!
HoS / What do you do with yourself all day?
AH / I'm normally at my desk creating new illustrations, which would mean I'm covered in paint or have miniature paper off cuts in my hair.
HoS / What has been your strangest job/commission?
AH / I used to handwrite responses to kids fan mail at a popular cereal company. I have now become an expert in cracking unreadable handwritten postal addresses.
HoS / What's your spirit inanimate object?
AH / Zigzag scissors.
HoS / What question would you hate to be asked?
AH / What will you be doing in 10 years time? (If I could predict the future every day life would be dull. I'd also be a wizard).
HoS / If no one was watching, what would you do?
I have a tendency to narrate what I'm doing in song, when I know no one is around......and I'm not known for my amazing singing voice.
